1.   How far are you from Charlottetown?
If travelling to the airport, the outskirts of Charlottetown, Boston Pizza, Mike's are all within 4 km, 2.25 miles of our home. To go to the waterfront, Confederation Centre or Province House it will take you an estimated 15 minutes or so from The Trailside Bed and Breakfast. See driving distance table on our directions page   back to question
2.   How far are you from Cavendish?
We asked Google, and our bed and breakfast is 31 km or 19 miles, to say 20 minutes to Green Gables attractions in Cavendish Prince Edward Island.   back to question
3.   Do we have a private bathroom?
I'm glad you asked; we are a 2.5 star Bed and Breakfast and we have 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (shared). Did you know a lot of Bed and Breakfast on Prince Edward Island could pass as a 3, 4 or 5 star accommodations because of the high quality of beds, linen, and amenities, but can only get as high as a 2.5 star rating? Canada Select gives a 3 star rating to accommodations with private baths in each room ( not always inside the rooms).   back to question
4.   Can we smoke anywhere outside?
Our Bed and Breakfast is non smoking. However, you can smoke outside away from the doors and windows.   back to question
5.   Are there restaurants in the area?
We are close to many of Prince Edward Island's great restaurants. Your choice of restaurants can be: fine dining, family, theatre, sports, lobster, or the fast on the run. Just ask and we will recommend one.   back to question
6.   Do you have a kitchen available for us to cook?
We have a kitchen for our Tea Room (restaurant licence); health department rules specify that no guests are allowed in kitchen area.   back to question
7.   I'm wondering, what will you be serving for breakfast?
A healthy breakfast at the Trailside Bed and Breakfast could include omelets, quiches, crepes, french toast, waffles, seasoned PEI petites patates, sausage, bacon, ham, and eggs and, when in season, fresh fruit complement your breakfast. See also our links Reviews and Tips for more info.   back to question
8.   What time is breakfast?
We serve breakfast to everyone between 8am and 8:30am. Many guests enjoy an early breakfast leaving them with plenty of time for adventures in Prince Edward Island . Often we have very early trail starters and they pre-arrange breakfast.   back to question
9.   Do you have air conditioning?
Although a few days out of the summer it can be very hot in the 80's, The Prince Edward Island humidity index rarely exceeds 31°C (88°F) For the most part we have a continual breeze keeping our temperature lower than most so we don't need air conditioning. The Island cools in the evening and I suggest you bring a sweater or coat jacket with you.   back to question
10.   Is the B&B on the second floor?
Two of our Bed and Breakfast rooms and 1 guest bathroom are on the second floor. The other two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are on the main floor. I would advise just like travelling by airplane you have a carry up bag if you don't want to lug a huge travel bag upstairs.   back to question
11.   We take a lot of suitcases with us; is there room to keep them upstairs?
Yes, space is not a problem and the closet space is plenty. However, the staircase isn't as wide as most and I would ask that you are careful not to mark the walls on either side as you go up. Please read question #10   back to question
12.   Do you allow pets?
Our policy is "No Pets." We love all animals, but we can't allow pets in the guest area (not even our own, we use invisible fencing). This helps travellers with sensitivities enjoy an allergy free holiday. If you really want to have your pet on vacation, may I suggest visiting the "Pet Friendly" Econo Lodge at 20 lower Malpeque road, 368-1110   back to question
14.   Can I scrapbook at your place?
Let me know at time of booking that you are a scrapbooker you're coming here to scrapbook and we will arrange an area to scrapbook with tools available.   back to question
15.   What do you offer?
We offer you a comfortable night's sleep on a top quality bed and a healthy breakfast in the morning. When in season, we use fresh fruits and vegetables, all our baking, jams and jellies are homemade using all of the Island's products, farm fresh eggs and ground coffee wake up your mornings. The view is yours for the taking and we like to offer our hospitality and family home.   back to question
16.   It is our anniversary, do you do anything special?
Happy Anniversary; remember ours is August 29th. On occasion we crack a bottle of wine and we will share it with you.   back to question
17.   I notice you have a cancellation policy, how does that work?
We reserve a room, holding this room exclusively for you. You may book 3 to 5 months in advance and we understand that unexpected events happen at the last minute causing you to cancel. However, any prospective guests looking for accommodations are not given the opportunity to see this room that is on hold for you. When you leave us with a vacancy, it represents 1/4 our income for that day. We will charge you for cancellations, no shows and early departures. See our Cancellation Policy   back to question
18.   Is Anne of Green Gables real?
Cavendish is real, the Green Gables House is real, and Anne of Green Gables is very alive in the minds of many.   back to question
19.   What do we need to bring?
I supply shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, bathrobe, and crocs (slippers) at the bed and breakfast. You should bring your own personal items. (I'll loan you a beach towel-please don't use the room towels) Prince Edward Island weather can be cool in the summertime so plan for that.   back to question
20.   Is your B&B on the ocean?
In Prince Edward Island you are never more than 15 minutes from the ocean. Although our Bed and Breakfast is not on the ocean, we are not far from the sound of it; you will need a car to travel to the ocean.   back to question
