The A-Z of Christmas ~ C
Welcome to Christmas and to my A-Z of Christmas. Each day I’ll try and share my favourites be it a craft, amusement, memory, photos, places PEI, recipe, inspiration or what makes me smile and a blessing or two.

I can remember the first Christmas the cat was out of the bag and I no longer listened with attentive ears for sleigh bells in the sky on Christmas Eve. Mom had me wrap everyone’s Christmas presents and she would write on the tags from Crako, Dasher or Santa on them and we would set them aside. I helped her put them away before my brother woke from his nap and I had these secrets I had to keep. I got into the hiding spot and read the presents that were mine and opened the corners carefully and peeked and pushed the tape back down every so gently. Christmas morning as each person opened their gift I knew what it was, as I was handed a gift I knew what it was. Christmas has never been the same since then.
We didn’t have many Christmas decorations and I think it was because any money we might have had might have been spent on Christmas Cheer and not decorations. I do remember these candles that were in a box wrapped in moldy smelling red tissue paper that made an appearance each year. The snowman reminded me of Frosty the Snowman. Each year it was a Winter tradition to watch Frosty the Snow Man and cry when he melted in the green house.
My son Matthew one year made me a Christmas Tree ornament. It was a tradition I started when the kids were young so this particular year he wanted to make me a gift and it was going to be out of Popsicle sticks. Each year we took it out of the box of decorations something else had fallen off it until it was only a stick and a tie, but we had to put it on the tree every year. I hope I come across it this year.

This year for a craft fair I started to make fudge. Oh no! my fudge recipe is missing and I can’t call out the fudge police on my son the chef – your busted buddy. Anyway I looked everywhere and then gave up, it was the recipe from the card collection of McCall’s Greatest Recipe Card Collection the card was “Old- Fashioned Fudge #26. I spent 3 1/2 hours searching the house for this recipe then took one off the internet and called it done. I did put out a call that I was looking for my fudge recipe and no one had seen it. This recipe was good but it just wasn’t my fudge recipe. I couldn’t just ask a friend for the recipe as I didn’t share this one.
Then to my surprise it showed up on my craft table. It’s back and if anyone wants to have the recipe I’ll gladly share it, but in the event it ever goes missing again, you better have it.

It is that time of year again, time to think about making and stamping Christmas Cards. I love to receive cards at this time of year and almost expect each day that I go to the mail box to have a card. As the years have moved on, we moved away, computer made emailing easy, and people got busy there just doesn’t seem time for the old fashioned was of giving Christmas Cards, but I still do it and love to get them. I had an email yesterday from someone who said they would love to receive a handmade Christmas Card. If you want one then email me your address and I’ll get that off to you and I’ve been known to put a little surprise inside a card now and then. Stephanie, Janice, Charlene, Cindy, Nancy, Pamela, Sandi, Maa, Ginny, BetteJo, Carolyn and Zaa and anyone I might have missed, email me your address and I’ll be sure to mail you a hand made Christmas Card, it would make my Christmas special.
I enjoyed that you stopped by and hope you’ll stop by again tomorrow with my D of Christmas. I wish you the very best and enjoy your day! Till tomorrow….
I’ll be thinking about Christmas and the letter D ~ XXX Cindy
